XC Gear MAKO 360 Handlebar Mounts Reduce Fatigue and Vibration

Hopefully you’ve found this article because you’ve been researching ways to reduce fatigue while riding or racing your dirt bike. Maybe you race motocross or enduro and want to increase your performance while nearly eliminating those “shock” moments due to rough conditions and sharp hits. It could be that you’d like to cut down on vibration in the handlebars. All of these potential problems can be eliminated or greatly reduced by the Mako 360 bar mounts made by XC Gear.

XC Gear’s Mako 360 in action.

How it works:

The Mako 360 allows for dampening when force is applied in any direction at any angle. You have 360 degrees of cushion around your handlebars which is not limited to a single plane. You might be familiar with products that are trying to accomplish the same thing such as Flexx handlebars from Fasstco. While these are a good option the design simply does not produce the same results and is limited in terms of effectiveness when compared to the Mako 360. Completely isolating the handlebar from any metal to metal contact and allowing it to “float” within polymer cushions allows for an infinitely dynamic result that will react to any force from any direction.

Polymers completely isolating the bars give it’s effectiveness a very dynamic range.

There are some incredible differences to be had from a stock bike setup to installing the Mako 360. The isolation of the bars and not having any metal to metal contact will greatly increase rider performance whether the ride is 15 minutes or 6 hours. The secondary set of shock absorption means more confidence in the rough stuff and the ability to ride harder, longer. Retaining the ability to use virtually any bar bend is also such great benefit when comparing to other full handlebar replacement systems.

An incredibly effective bike upgrade. Like a secondary set of suspension.

Ever since my first set I’ve had an “ah ha” moment. Since then they are my first upgrade to any bike that they are available for. I’ve ridden them in dual sport scenarios, single track, GP style races and off-road endurance races. The first 6 hour race I ran with them made all the difference allowing my to improve my results significantly.

Pick a color, any color.

The design of the Mako 360 bar mount is pretty ingenious. While there are two main polymers wrapped around the handlebars, one smaller polymer acts as a limiter stop to keep the handlebars where they need to be. After several sets and several hours logged on each, I’ve yet to have an issue or failure relating to the handlebar mount. Just as a note, I think there is a good reason there are several top level GNCC, NEPG, WORCS, and NHHA racers found with these on their bikes.

XC Gear offers a variety of options in terms of customization.

XC Gear offers a variety of options in terms of the Polymers themselves. Different colors yield different results and are based on skill level or hours of use. Getting a few sets to zero in on what works best for you or the conditions of the ride are another reason it’s such a great bike upgrade. Totally customizable based on your specific needs.
